Sucheta Ganguly Born in 1984, Sucheta Ganguly was initiated into the world of Hindustani music by her father, Bhajan Krishna Ganguly, at the age of seven. Subsequently, she also learnt from Sujit Ganguly of Bishnupur gharana. She won the first prize at a State level music competition in 1994 .She did her post graduation in music from SNDT Women’s University. The “President of India” presented her an award in music. She joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy in the year 2000 as a General Class student under the tutelage of ITC SRA Guru Pandit Arun Bhaduri and from 2003 she had been a full time residential scholar. She is also a disciple of ITC SRA guru, Vidushi Girija Devi, from whom she learnt Thumri and Dadra. She is known for her mellifluous voice and apt rendition in both the subject classical and semi classical music.Sucheta's memorable performances include solo recitals at the ‘Guru-Shishya presentation’ (2006), ITC Sangeet Sammelans at Mumbai and Kanpur, a jugalbandi performance at the ‘Navonmesh Utsav’ (2008) and at the Chennai Festival in 2009 in India and at Sadhana in Bangladesh in 2010. Her recent performance for “Thumri Farstival” in Benaras and in Hyderabad organised by “ Sangitanjali” was highly applaudable . She has been awarded with the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, 2010. She is an empanelled artist for ICCR .She has also performed in Canada,Germany,Switzerland ,France,Austria and Bangladesh . She is an A grade artist of All India Radio (Kolkata)both in Kheyal and Thumri Dadra Tappa
