ABOUT
Smarajit Sen is a born talented musician of his own style, a solid flamboyance with his blasting hands and depth of a creative brain, which gives him a distinguished identity. TRAINING : Smarajit started his journey at the age of 7, under the tutelage of Prof. Sukumar Chanda, later he became a disciple of Sarod Maestro PadmaBhusan Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta. He also took guidance from Ustad Shahid Pervez Khan and Pt.Niladri Kumar ji. He is a Master's Degree holder in Music from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, also he was a residential Scholar of ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata for several years. AWARDS & ACHIEVEMENTS : 1. A-Grade Artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan. 2. National Award by Art and Cultural Trust of India “Akhil Bharatiya Sangeet Pratibha Puraskar” in 2017. 3. National Scholarship by Ministry of I & B, Govt. of India. 4. Pt. Gyan Prakash Ghosh Memorial Award, Megh Mallar 2000. 5. Champion Award from West Bengal State Music Academy, 2007. 6. Pt. Visnutroy Sangeet Samman from Raipur. 7. An empanelled Artiste of ICCR. and many more. ALBUMS : As of now, Smarajit has Three Solo Albums, and plenty of other albums in collaborations with Maestros like Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt. Subhankar Banerjee, Pt. Buddhadev Dasgupta, and many more. His 1st album “Spirituoso”, which contains his very deep research and experiment with the Western Classical Music, was tremendously appreciated by the listeners. The 2nd one, “Divine Romance” is completely traditional Indian Classical (containing Ragas Bilaskhani Todi, Marwa & Tilak Kamod). The 3rd Album “Shades of Ragas: an essence of 78rpm records” contains 16 ragas played with different rhythms. Each one is of around 4 minutes duration, like the 78rpm records and those of different times and moods. He has also performed with Legends and stalwarts like Smt. Lata Mangeshkar, Smt. Asha Bhosle, Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt.
