SHRIKANT MISHRA, born on 21 March 1993 in a Musical family in the City of Viswanath, known as Varanasi (BANARAS), is a promising rising artist in the field of Indian Music. His grandfather, Pt. Bhola Nath Mishra was a renowned Vocalist and Harmonium Player. He hails his musicality and repertoire of Gharanedar Talim from his Father. Pt. Nand Kishor Mishra (SANGEET NATAK AKADEMI AWARDEE 2013). Growing up in a musical atmosphere caused a special inclination towards the rhythm. He started his journey of playing table at the age of 4. Difficult rhythm, tihai and traditional Tabla compositions of various gharana are the areas of his special interest, which he presents with great spontaneity. Since the age of 10, he has been performing different talas and also performed in front of many maestros and musical geniuses, like Padma Vibhushan Pt. Kishan Maharaj Ji, Padma Vibhushan Pt. Birju Maharaj Ji, Padma Vibhushan Pt. Channu Lal Mishra Ji, Padma Vibhushan Pt. Rajan-Sajan Mishra Ji, Padmavibhushan Vidushi Girija Devi Ji and many others and got their blessings. With time, his playing skill is touching new heights. His solo performances have a flavor of uniqueness that contains the beauty of Uthan of different modes, qaida, rela, rau, angustana, laggi etc. with poetic language of Banaras Gharana. He bears the true essence of a performer that is the quality of mesmerizing the audiences with his apt knowledge of presentation. He is also proficient in accompaniment with Singing, Tantra Vadya and Kathak and enhances the beauty of the entire performance with his skillful playing and great coordination. Along with the Tabla, he also plays wonderful instruments like Pakhawaj, Dholak and various western instruments like cajon, djembe, tarbuka. He is a well-known and respected 'A' Grade artist of all India Radio & Durdarshan and also has the credit of holding scholarship by Ministry of culture Delhi (Hindustani Music Instrument- Tabla from Centre for Cultural Resources and Training.) He holds the first position in a competition held by Sangeet Natak Akademi. First Position in SPANDAN held by Faculty of Performing Arts (BHU). First prize in the competition of Pranav Sangeet Sansthan Mughalsarai. Second Prize in the competition of Prayag Sangeet Samiti (Allahabad), Silver medal holder and recently honored by Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari (Minister of State Law and Justice, information, sports and youth welfare of Uttar Pradesh) Tourism Minister.
