ABOUT
Sanjib Pal is a well established Tabla player of Kolkata, more known for his balanced and clear accompaniment with instruments, vocal & dance. He also known as a solo Tabla player. Sanjib, who is born at Nabadwip, famous as birth place of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He started learning Tabla at the age of 7 from his Guru Shri Sunil Karmakar. Afterwards, he learned tabla for few years under guidance of Shri Hiranmoy Biswas. From the year 1988 onwards, he also got the great opportunity to take Talim under the tutelage of world famous legendary Tabla maestro Acharya Pandit Shankar Ghosh of Farrukhabad Gharana. Nearly about 26 years, he continued his learning near Panditji. He completed Masters in Percussion from Rabindra Bharati University. Gradually he has established himself as a top class accompanist and soloist. His performances are admired for their tonal quality, melody, crystal clear sound of Bols even at an electrifying speed and tremendous sense of rhythm. He is travelling several foreign countries like Germany, Switzerland, England, Italy, Spain, Dubai, Oman, Russia, Denmark, Netherland, Austria, France and U.S.A since 2001. He performed at The Dover Lane Music Conference, Sangeet Piyasi Music Festival, West Bengal State Govt. Music Conference, IIT Kanpur Music Festival organised by Spic Macay, Kerala Music Festival, Concerts of Tollygunge Club & Saturday Club, Hitosadhani Music Festival in Tripura, Bodensee Music Festival in Germany, Embassy of India concert in Germany, Kaiserslautern Music Festival in Germany, Shortwave Radio Stations program in Germany, Barlin Raga Tribe, SurSadhana Festival in Lithuania, Kaiserslautern Music Festival in Germany and many more concerts. Sanjib also participated several times in National programmes of All India Radio & Doordarshan. He achieved many prestigious awards, namely National Youth Festival award, Hiru Ganguly Memorial Award, West Bengal State Music Academy award etc. He got National Scholarship in 2000.
