ABOUT
Figuring among a handful of Indian classical vocalists in France, Madhubanti is an extremely talented vocalist to be reckoned with. Madhubanti specialises in Indian pure classical (Khayal) as well as in different genres of semi-classical vocal music such as Thumri, Dadra, Kajri, Bhajan. Based in the city of Lyon in France, she is a regular performer in Europe and has performed in numerous concerts in France, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands. Born into a family of academicians and musicians of Calcutta (India), music was ingrained in Madhubanti since her childhood. Madhubanti’s initial training in Hindustani classical vocal music started with his father, Dr Goutam Kumar Sarkar, who was one of the senior disciples of the Indian classical music maestro Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. Madhubanti received training in Indian pure classical genre ( Kheyal) from Sri Santanu Bandyopadhyay of Bishnupur Gharana. Thereafter, Madhubanti came under the titulage of Srimati Dalia Rahut, a renowned figure from the Benaras Gharana and one of the senior disciples of Vidushi Girija Devi.
