💫 Into the Night ✨ A Winter Solstice Dance Ceremony

As the longest night of the year approaches, we gather in community to honor the turning of the season. Together we move into the dark—where intuition sharpens, creativity awakens, and the body remembers its own warmth and rhythm. This Solstice dance ceremony invites you to release what has passed, root into the present moment, and welcome the returning light with intention, movement, and shared presence.

We begin with a soul-nourishing cacao ceremony, awakening our hearts and setting intentions for the season ahead. We invite you to move through an intentional arc of ritual, ceremony, community connection, and ecstatic expression. We are thrilled to welcome OVEOUS, a renowned international DJ, producer, and sonic storyteller whose deeply soulful rhythms have moved dance floors across the globe. His presence will guide us through a powerful journey—an initiation into the magic, medicine, and mystery of the night as we collectively celebrate the close of the year.

From the heart-opening embrace of cacao to the grounding pulse of movement to the restorative stillness of sound, this gathering is an invitation to descend, expand, and rise together as we mark the turning of the season.

**Please Note: Attendees planning to participate in the cacao ceremony at 6pm must register in advance and arrive early. Once the cacao ceremony begins, the doors will close from 6:00-6:45 to maintain sanctity. Attendees who do not register for the cacao ceremony in advance will be admitted to the dance at the conclusion of the cacao ceremony at 6:45pm. Please arrive before 6pm to ensure entry to the opening ceremony.

Ecstatic Dance is a form of freeform movement where participants let go of inhibitions and dance to the rhythm of the music without following any structured steps or routines. It's a way to express oneself authentically through movement in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Ecstatic Dance Nyack's program features six key components:

Opportunities to meet fellow community members and strengthen relationships at the start and end of each event.
A dance warm-up that prepares the body and spirit for an evening of dance and somatic exploration.
An extended set of curated dance music.
A meditative sound healing experience to bring restoration after lively dancing.
Complimentary fresh fruit and water, plus organic, locally-foraged beverages and snacks for sale from local artisans.
A non-denominational altar to facilitate introspection and affirmation of one's own personal values, memories, aspirations, and intentions.

ECSTATIC DANCE NYACK GUIDLINES

First, Dance with Yourself: If you choose to dance with others, do so from a place of giving, not taking. All physical contact with fellow dancers must be consensual. Consent is Freely Given, Reversible, Informed, Enthusiastic, and Specific (FRIES). To separate from a dance partner, you can show hands in prayer to signal your respectful departure.
No Alcohol: Movement is medicine. The spirit of alcohol is not welcome at Ecstatic Dance Nyack. To maintain a space of sensitivity, authentcity, awareness, and clarity, we invite you to experience the depths of your own being without alcohol. Plant medicine is welcome only if used privately, respectfully and responsibly. No smoking within 50 feet of the premises.
No Speaking: Ecstatic Dance empowers participants to explore and express themselves with movement and body language. The cessation of speech unblocks wellsprings of feeling and emotion that are otherwise limited by words. Connect with yourself and others in a new way.
No Phones: Havent you spent enough time looking at it already?
No Photography or Video: What happens here stays here. To allow for fully authentic expression and exploration of our deepest emotions, free from all forms of shame and guilt, participants can be assured that their experience will never be known outside the walls of Ecstatic Dance Nyack.
No Shoes: To stay grounded, protect everyone’s feet, and maintain cleanliness, please do not wear shoes on the dance floor. Socks and special indoor-only dance shoes are permitted.
Be Yourself: This is a judgment-free zone. Allow your body the freedom to move however it needs. All ranges of emotion and expression are welcome here, from joy to sorrow, and everything else. Let movement and music guide you to feel and display every part of yourself. All of you is welcome here.

About Fairy Hawk
Fairy Hawk is a Liberation Activator, Ritual Artist, Yogi, Indigenous Advocate, and Sacred Sacrament Ceremonialist. She guides humanity back to its original divinity, helping people awaken and activate their innate gifts.

Rooted in the Earth, Fairy Hawk teaches mycology and hydroponics to children across NYC with MiohMy Farms, and her time farming at Mumbet’s Freedom Farm deepened her connection to the land, ancestral knowledge, and the intelligence of the Earth itself.

OVEOUS is a true renaissance artist. This performer is not your typical DJ... his live sets at parties around the globe showcase his skill as a poet, singer, and producer who has been killing it from music festivals in Dubai to TV spots like HBO, Late Night TV, and Showtime at the Apollo, where he won so many times they kicked him out! His words in poems and music have made him one of the most highly sought-after artists around the world, and naturally his catalogue of music has garnered critical acclaim. His flows and content surpass what most expect from artists these days. Having worked with great talents like Roy Ayers, Louie Vega, Osunlade, and Ursula Rucker has paved the way for artistic excellence. In 2018, OVEOUS teamed up with longtime collaborator QVLN to create their hit track “Queimar,” named one of the top tracks of the year by Traxsource. Many of his productions on respected labels like Yoruba, Atjazz, Offering, Vega, and Moca Arts have earned him widespread praise as a powerful new force in house music.

About Aruna
Aruna Sinopa is an embodiment guide, performer, and somatic artist rooted in wild expression and intuition. Blending years of movement exploration with deep nervous system attunement, Aruna leads spaces that feel both primal and safe.

During this ecstatic dance, she’ll be offering Feral Embodiment, a workshop that invites you to shed performance, soften into instinct, and let your body speak in its raw, untamed truth. Her facilitation weaves presence & play, creating a container where your wildness is allowed to be a safe space.

About Angela Hassan
Angela Hassan is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher of presence, with over a decade of experience and certifications in yoga, meditation, and various energy healing modalities. Angela has worked with people from all walks of life—including youth, young adults, elders, incarcerated individuals, those in recovery, and the general public—meeting each person where they are and with compassion. Through devotion, intention, sound and stillness, Angela’s offerings invite reconnection, renewal, and a return to love.
