ABOUT
Daniela is the torchbearer and firestarter of Brooklyn’s underground and a visionary community architect, DJ, and producer with over three decades in global dance music scene. She is the founder and resident DJ of Deep Playa NYC and the all-female talent series Her Name Is Shakti, galvanizing a community around shared experience, deep joy, and connection. As Musical Director, DJ, and Stage Designer for CAMP (Calling All Magical People) festival since 2022, and former Artist Relations Liaison for Lightning in a Bottle (2023), Daniela’s fingerprints can be found across some of the most intentional and expansive gatherings large and small. Known as the Sunrise Queen, her hypnotic and emotionally charged sets weave techno, progressive house, and afrohouse by night with classic house and disco by day-- and they're always rooted in the historical lineage. Drawing on and inspired by her background as a professor of Pedagogy and Second Language Acquisition, Daniela now brings her teaching expertise to community building. She hosts and produces the bi-monthly Community Builder Forum at the venue she runs called Loft Story in Greenpoint, an event series featuring top community builders sharing insights and wisdom. She is preparing to launch her Community Builder Course in January 2026, empowering others to design and nurture the communities of their dreams.
