Vigilia is an experimental evening— part performance, part ritual, part dance party. This is an invitation to remember what we carry, what we’ve lost, and to celebrate the memories of our beloved departed.

This is a shoes off event. To go to the backyard please carry them outside with you.

MUSIC
ElJeffre is a multi-versed musician manifesting music, soundscapes, journeys and visions. He shares his artistry both in the wildly expressive NYC nightlife scene as well as in gatherings where the focus is more oriented towards healing and integration. Despite these areas being seemingly opposed, he brings a common energy of ingenuity, artistry and connection to every circumstance - continuously finding that the shadow work at night informs the light work during the day.

Iris is a New York based live loop artist, vocalist, soundscape designer and mythopoetic bard. Combining soulful vocals, production + live looping to create hypnotic, dream-like sound scapes, ranging from mediations to beat centric dance music. Deeply influenced by her time spent in nature, Iris has a diverse background in wilderness skills, sound healing, painting, writing and mysticism; coloring her sets with a confluence of natural textures, world instruments, sounds of space, vocal harmonies and rhythmic prose. She believes music is a force of story telling, of magic, alchemy, togetherness + evolution.

Breece Suber is a philosopher of music. A French/American DJ and producer, he likes to play with different tools to blend energetic, techno-style bass and the somewhat familiar melodies for the 80's kid inside you.

PERFORMANCES
Hybrid Movement Company began as a conversation in movement between artists from many backgrounds: contemporary ballet, Contemporary Circus, martial arts, bboying, visual arts, music and animation. We developed a collaborative method which provides skilled artists with an opportunity to recognize and reframe themselves in each other and in space.

THE VENUE
The Hybrid Movement Creative Lab, aka The Lab, is a space for exploration, creation, and the development of works in progress. It fosters events, community classes, studio showings, shoots and rehearsals. This magical 2,000 sqft Bushwick loft is home to the Hybrid Movement Company, and for some of us our actual home. The Lab has cozy corners for you to lounge in and watch the performances, rugs and floor pillows for floor seating and a sprung dance floor. We are a shoes-off space, wear comfy socks you like to move and dance in. We love welcoming you into our home! Please treat it with care.

After midnight, we gather— to honor the ones who’ve crossed beyond the veil.
Through the alchemy of movement, verse, and vibration, we commune with what lingers in the unseen. Inhale the breath of memory; exhale the enduring warmth of love remembered.

Chapter III
THE CELEBRATION
As night deepens, we transmute mourning into motion.
The rhythm rises. Let it carry you—
let your pulse become drumbeat, your body a vessel of remembrance.
In ecstatic reverence, we dance.
