Princess Backpack and Benjamin are a Brooklyn-based duo who love to rock, pop, and strum their way through life! Benjamin is a writer for kids shows on Nickelodeon, PBS, and Netflix. Princess Backpack is a magical talking backpack, and Benjamin's best friend. They've performed as far away as Taiwan and as close as the Brooklyn Museum, and are thrilled to be back at their favorite place in the world, the Jalopy Theatre!
From award-winning folk musicians to rock-n-rollers, puppeteers and pop stars, this family concert series is sure to engage, entertain and educate your entire family! Hosted by Brooklyn's own award-winning singer/songwriter Suzi Shelton, this monthly concert series features a diverse array of top notch musicians and performers from around the country who will share their backgrounds and talents with us. Nestled in the heart of Red Hook, Brooklyn, Jalopy Theatre and School of Music is a home for music and music-makers: a multifaceted arts space celebrating traditional folk music through live performances and communal learning. Concerts are approximately one hour in length and geared for families with children 10 and under, however everyone is welcome. Refreshments are available for sale.
This concert series is generously funded by Uncle Shlomo's Brooklyn Kids Music Fund in memory of our friend and mentor Shlomo Pestcoe. Proceeds from the door will go to the Jalopy Scholarship Fund.
