On the longest day of the year, we gather to honor the sun, earth & spirits of the land. A benefit for the rivers.
We invite you to step into a unique immersive experience weaving together dance, performance art, ritual, healing, & music.
Join us in celebration of the summer solstice for a teahouse night serenaded by violin soundscapes of Will Franke, a showcase of Jade Sanchez’s stage production “Mujeres De Las Piedras’, featuring 23 enchanting dancers and artists, a musical performance by Numatik, the reveal of "Lady Helene" a sculpture built by Taproot Arts Collective.
We will gather in gratitude for this land by coming together through art & giving back to the rivers through this fundraiser. All profits donated to French Broad Riverkeeper.
About Mujeres De Las Piedras - A Love Letter to the Voices of Earth
“Mujeres De Las Piedras” Spanish for “Women of the Stones” is an honoring of lineage, land, and spirit expressed through a 35 minute live stage performance calling the viewer into an ancient story of earth remembrance. This stage show was choreographed and dreamt up by Aztec Mexican-American artist Jade Sanchez.
The performance weaves together dance, spoken word, & visual arts to tell a story of women’s ancient & ancestral connection to the earth. The show highlights and dives deep into the indigenous concept of animism, the belief that all things in the world have a spirit, including wind, plants, rocks, and fire.
There are 23 women apart of the piece, all coming from different backgrounds, lineages, stories, & ages. One intention of this piece is to bring each individual woman's own unique take on the themes above into the show, through dance.

All in attendance of Mujeres de Piedras are invited to arrive early to bring offerings to place around Lady Helene to honor the spirit of the storm as well as to pray for the continued healing of our communities in the wake of destruction.
