This galère gathering isn’t simply about the poems, but also the poet’s muse, how the verse came to be. So, if writers write to expose themselves and actors act to hide themselves . . . poets pose as spiritual coroners—examining both the living and the dead—via self-evisceration. A psychic operation that allows the assemblage to decide if the work’s DNA is that of an archangel . . . or Frankenstein.
R. Nemo Hill is getting old, but he isn’t tired yet. He has a lot of published work behind him: a novel, a book-length poem based upon a story by H.P Lovecraft, and five books published by Dos Madres Press: four of poetry, as well as a book of excerpts from his Southeast Asian travel diaries. He is also editor and publisher of EXOT BOOKS, a sporadic small press. Almost a decade ago, he fled his longtime nest in NYC’s East Village for a rambling old stone farmhouse in the Catskill Mountains, in the hamlet of Halcott Center—where cows outnumber people. Of course, neither cows nor people read very much these days, or buy books, so he and his husband make a meager living as indigo-dyers, selling their wares at crafts shows.
