Lex Korten is an active bandleader based in New York City, known for performing at venues such as Lincoln Center and Smalls, as well as experimental spaces like Roulette and National Sawdust. Over his decade-long career, Korten has immersed himself in a diverse array of improvised music, collaborating with rising talents like Simon Moullier and Zoh Amba. He leads ensembles including the Lex Korten Trio, Quartet, and the experimental group Canopy. His debut original album, also titled "Canopy", is set to be released on September 19, 2025. In 2021, he released a solo piano album, "Foreward", featuring his award-winning performances from Pretoria, South Africa.
