Join us for an extraordinary evening of Indian classical music, featuring the sublime artistry of Radhika Samson on the sitar and Ramanan Venkatraman on the Hansaveena. These accomplished musicians will transport you through the evocative landscapes of ragas and melodies, bringing to life the intricate beauty of India’s rich musical heritage.
Radhika Samson is a celebrated Indian classical musician and dancer with profound expertise in the Surbahar, a bass sitar. A devoted disciple of the esteemed Pandit Barun Kumar Pal, Radhika honed her skills under the revered guru-shishya parampara at the Ravi Shankar Institute of Music and Performing Arts in New Delhi.
Her deep connection to the Dhrupad ang of Indian music and years of training with the sitar led her to master the Surbahar as her primary medium of expression. In 2014, Radhika founded Sadhana, an arts academy in New Delhi that has nurtured over 125 students in Indian and Western performing arts.
A faculty member of the Chhandayan Centre for Indian Music in Manhattan, Radhika is also an accomplished Odissi dancer under the guidance of Smt Sujata Mohapatra. Her extensive career includes touring as an artist with the Indian Council of Cultural Relations and conducting orchestras at esteemed institutions.
Currently based in New York, Radhika continues to inspire and preserve India’s classical traditions through her teaching and performances.
Joining her is Ramanan Venkatraman (Venram), a dynamic musician, sound designer, and educator based in New York City. A former Senior Lead Sound Designer at Aristocrat Technologies, Ramanan excels in crafting immersive audio for games, films, and documentaries.
As a versatile artist, he masterfully plays the Hansaveena, guitar, and more, blending Indian Classical, Fusion, and Rock into emotive, genre-spanning performances. His work incorporates live looping and electronic elements, creating a seamless fusion of tradition and innovation.
Ramanan co-founded Indian Classical Music and Odissi Dance academies in New Delhi (2013) and NYC (2024), fostering cultural preservation while embracing modern creativity. An award-winning visual artist, he also empowers fellow creatives through photography, videography, and graphic design, enriching the artistic community.
