ABOUT SOMATIC DANCE
Somatic dance is a mindful movement practice, often done in a group setting, that emphasizes the internal, felt experience of the body and its connection to emotions and thoughts. It focuses on developing body awareness, self-expression, self-discovery and personal healing and emotional release through free-form, unchoreographed movement, rather than on performance or technique. It's a way to connect with emotions, release physical tension, and cultivate presence in the body. No prior dance experience is necessary, just an open mind and the willingness to relax and lean into whatever your body is feeling and needing in the moment.
ABOUT ADREA
Adrea Robles has been focused on physical health and wellbeing for many years. A licensed massage therapist and yoga teacher, she knows what is needed to keep the body healthy and moving gracefully. She is a certified facilitator of Contact Beyond Contact and a Reiki Master who believes dance is the easiest path to healing.
ABOUT MORGANA
Morgana is a New York-based Sonic Alchemist, Music and Art Curator and Event Producer who believes in the power of music and art to uplift, unite and heal. She delights in taking her audiences on celestial journeys of deep exploration with a unique musical style she calls ‘Melodic Magic’ which infuses Organic House, Folktronica, Progressive World Music with Melodic Techno and Trance. Her mission is to transport her listeners to a completely uninhibited, Zen and awakened state. A yogi, nature enthusiast and mystic, Morgana weaves earthy, progressive ethno world beats with a modern, electronic edge to stir you both physically and spiritually.
ABOUT CRYSTAL
Artist Crystal Thompson is known for creating whimsical events and environments. By turning the images she captures with her camera into swirling hypnotic video projections, her work inspires joy and creativity. Often based on playful interactions between nature and urban environments, like city lights reflected in raindrops and vines clinging to paint chipped walls, her work reminds us that there is magic is all around us if we just learn how to notice it.
For nearly 20 years Thompson has been creating spaces for people to play and dance in projected light. She originally started her work in the New York underground party scene and recently has been featured at Burning Man Decompression, ChaShaMa Gala, and Luna Festival.
Thompson’s emersive, multimedia installation, “New Growth” now has a permanent home in the gallery of The Modernist Hotel in Long Island City, Queens. Here her videos and photographs combine with fallen branches, mirrors and hand dyed paper botanicals to create a calming space that encourages curiosity and meditation. The gallery is accessible to the public 24/7
