Ed Malone went to Gaulier 20 years ago and he won't shut up about it. He's one of the mean clown teachers; if you're boring on stage, he might call you bad names (really bad). But he'll give you a hug afterwards.
Ed is very not politically correct. He says bad words that a good person would never say. If you are easily triggered, or even "averagely" triggered, this class is not for you. We don't condone Ed Malone in any way, and would never support what he does by giving him a platform.
Ed's class exists in a world of make believe. I THINK Ed Malone is actually a good person but I am not sure.
This class is for clowns of all levels who don't mind being clowned on.
NOTE: this will be Ed's last year of teaching. In 2026 Ed will be too rich from his crypto investments and acting fame to give a shit about any of us anymore.
Originally from Ireland, Ed is a graduate of Ecole Philippe Gaulier where he trained with master clown Philippe Gaulier. Ed also trained at Ecole Jacques Lecoq. He has been teaching clown in New York City for over ten years. Former students include Chloe Fineman of Saturday Night Live. The New York Times described Ed as a “deft physical comedian” - he has performed in several off-broadway productions at the Irish Repertory Theatre and he played the Clown in a critically acclaimed production of “The Winters Tale” with Theatre for a New Audience. Ed’s debut solo show “The Self Obsessed Tragedy of Ed Malone”was considered a “theatrical highlight” of 2006 by the Irish Times. Time Out New York said of Ed’s follow up solo show “The Three Irish Widows Versus The Rest Of The World” - “it blows the walls of the theater!” Ed loves helping his clown students discover things about themselves and their art that they couldn’t even dream of. As one former student Felipe Di Poi Tamargo (Adult Swim)said: “taking class with Ed is like taking the red pill of comedy.” Ed can be seen in the upcoming Josh Safdie film “Marty Supreme” starring Timothèe Chalamet.
