This section of the Bluegrass Jam class is for Intermediate to Advanced players who feel agile with chord progressions and are ready to dive in and jam at faster tempos and explore soloing. Students must know all major and minor chords, barre chords, how to use the capo to transpose, familiar with the Nashville Number System and fluent in the keys of C, D, E, G, and A, familiar with the pentatonic scale in those keys as well. Must also be able to learn and play melodies by ear, have at least 5 bluegrass songs known and/or memorized.
We will learn various popular bluegrass tunes from artists such as Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, and many more. You’ll also learn basic skills like ear training and music theory to help you navigate tunes you may not be familiar with, and give you the essentials to sound great even on a tune you have never heard before!
