Join the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2024 Mid-Atlantic District Champions, Smoke Ring, for The Smoke Show: An intimate live album recording, featuring performances by The Brooklynaires.

Smoke Ring is a mixed barbershop and contemporary a cappella quartet based in New York, NY. The four—Rebecca Eckes (tenor), Stephanie “Tags” Taglianetti (lead), Gabriel Spector (bass), and Alexander Ronneberg (baritone)—met as active members of GOTHAM chorus.

Their humble beginnings began behind a curtain in a room in Charlotte, NC, where they tucked away for privacy to ring some chords in a crowded room. They made things official in Jan 2023, in preparation for Voices of Gotham’s Tin Pan Alley novice quartet contest, which they went on to win in their first year as an active quartet.

The group earned the title of 2023 Mid-Atlantic Northern Division quartet champs later that same year, and went on to become the first-ever mixed voice quartet to win the Mid-Atlantic District quartet competition (2024 champs).

Looking ahead, Smoke Ring’s goal is to compete at the BHS international contest in Cleveland in July 2024, where they hope to inspire all singers by pushing the limits of what’s possible in barbershop with a lot of sass and sparkle.

The Smoke Show also features performances by The Brooklynaires. The Brooklynaires are a barbershop quartet based in Midwood. They formed in early 2020, took some time off in 2023, and are back at it with a new baritone (Garrett Eucker). Their tenor (BJ Hillinck), lead (Alex McCoy), and bass (Adam Bock) have been barbershopping for many years as part of Voices of Gotham (a subsidiary of Gotham Chorus), and are very excited to bring their new sound to this lovely show and all of you lovely people!
