Join The Emerald podcast's JOSH SCHREI and singer and archival songkeeper PEIA LUZZI for an evening of story and song at the beautiful Hawk & Hawthorne just north of Asheville, North Carolina.
As we storytell, sing, and invoke together we'll explore what it means to be an instrument attuned to the voice of animacy around us, what it means to listen to the voice of nature, and what it means to sing back. Come experience an evening alive with sound, with harmony, and perhaps a little magic.
The myths of the world were traditionally spoken and sung aloud in a cycle in which the singer/storyteller learned to become an instrument — to hollow themselves out, to listen to the animacy of the world around, and to allow that animacy to move through them and express itself.
During this evening, we will explore the vibrant traditional songs and stories that invoke this cycle ... and what it means to become deeply attuned to this cycle ourselves ... so that the instrument-body of the practitioner hums with the resonance of the greater world.
