Ryan El-Solh (guitar), Carmen Rothwell (bass) and Jason Burger (drums), began performing together as Scree in 2017. Since then the trio have forged a sound all their own, driven by the wide, mystical arcs of guitarist El-Solh’s compositions, which draw on an eclectic range of influences from Ellington to Brahms to Lebanese composer Ziad Rahbani. Through their intimate and virtuosic live performances Scree have steadily built a dedicated following in their home base of Brooklyn, NY. Their debut studio LP,
Jasmine on a Night in July (Ruination Records) draws on the work of the great Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish to explore themes of longing and nostalgia for a distant homeland. Pitchfork calls
Jasmine, “the proper introduction to a significant new piece of the American instrumental rock landscape, familiar threads woven into fabric that feels novel.”

Formed in north Jersey in 2004, The Early spans two decades, two coastlines, and an evolving lineup of multi-instrumentalists, metabolizing the textural grandeur of post-rock, the communicational intimacy of jazz improvisation, and the patient grooves of minimalism.

Maeve Schallert is an improviser using violin, Max/MSP, and sometimes lap steel, to create reflection and refraction, and a space for the listener to be part of the performance. An ex-conservatory musician, Maeve found improvisation as a way to both relearn the instrument they had fallen out of love with, and for them to find whatever “being in the moment” is. Their work is toward bringing whoever hears it into the fold. Through vibrant feedback, lilting melodies, and an ever-changing set, they are there as a whole, momentarily, and they hope you can be there with them. Maeve can also be found shapeshifting with BORE (Zoots Houston and Maeve Schallert), uppers (Gabriel Weinstock on tape and Maeve on violin), and hosting shows in Kingston as attention everybody.
