Swamp in the City is excited to host an intimate concert on Saturday, October 9th at Jalopy Theatre featuring three of the greatest young players in the Cajun/Creole musical tradition today: Jourdan Thibodeaux, Cedric Watson and Joel Savoy.

Jourdan Thibodeaux is the guy you picture when someone says the word “authentic.” Straight from the blackjack boggy woods of Cypress Island, Louisiana, Jourdan is one of only a small number of young people speaking Cajun French today. His musical ability and his crafty songwriting which is at once classic and progressive has afforded him a band comprised of some of the finest artists in Acadiana today.

Joining him is Cedric Watson, one of the brightest young talents to emerge in Cajun, Creole and Zydeco (Louisiana French) music over the last decade, and a four-time Grammy-nominated fiddler, singer, accordionist & songwriter with seemingly unlimited potential.

Completing the trio on guitar is Joel Savoy, the son of Cajun music royalty Marc and Ann Savoy, and founder of the Louisiana-based label, Valcour Records. Joel is a Grammy-winning recording engineer and record producer as well as a ten-time Grammy nominee and fiddle virtuoso.

Jalopy Theatre will leave some pews in the back and perimeter for listening. Dancing is permitted, but masks are encouraged.

Breach of the foregoing will automatically terminate this license. Holder agrees that the license comprised by this ticket may be removed and Holder may be ejected from the event for which this ticket is issued in the event that Holder violates any law, ordinance, or venue regulation. Holder grants permission to the organization sponsoring the event for which this ticket is issued to utilize Holder’s image or likeness in connection with any video or other transmission or reproduction of the event to which this ticket relates.
