Sam Day Harmet will be in residence Saturdays at 6pm all throughout September.
Sam Day Harmet is a mandolinist, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist composing and improvising around NYC. A musician of diverse tastes, Sam's projects range from deconstructive folk and jazz, to free improvisation, to left field electronic music, to Soundpainting and beyond. His compositional and improv work often blurs the lines between far flung styles and disciplines. Around NYC, he can regularly be found performing with La Banda Chuska, Astroturf Noise, the Walter Thompson Orchestra, and various klezmer, folk, and improvisational groupings. His work has been called "wildly fresh" by Jazziz Magazine and "chic and eccentric" by The New York Times.
This week: SNACKY
Snacky, New York's premier (and only) experimental
taishogoto band makes its debut performance with
Sam Day Harmet, Stephen La Rosa, and
Erica Mancini on various taishogotos along with a special mystery guest.
Taishogoto is a Japanese plucked electric zither that has snuck onto a number of psychedelic and krautrock records and now finally makes its way into the Barbès back room.
