Synopsis
Growing up in a bi-racial home with a white mother and a Vietnamese father, Kim spent years wishing away her father’s less-than-desirable immigrant status, skin color and all the painful family secrets she inherited. Determined to face her demons, she joins a volunteer organization in Vietnam. As she begins to discover the beauty of her roots, she confronts the trauma of her past and puts its secrets behind her forever.
Note
This performance is a fundraiser for
Inviolate Initiative, a project of the
Center for Transformative Action, a 501(c)3 organization. Inviolate Initiative helps to secure psychological evaluations for immigrant survivors of domestic abuse and human trafficking. These evaluations are completed by mental health professionals and the reports serve as critical evidence in survivors' immigration cases. Kim is proud to be Inviolate’s artist-in-residence for 2024.
Inviolate extends gratitude to the mental health offices that support our work, including our sponsors for this event: Let's Talk Psychological Wellness, P.C. (talkingforwellness.com) and Discovery Mental Health Counseling, PLLC (DiscoveryMHC.com)."
