Harmonizing the Songs of Bob Dylan with Emily EagenSix Sessions on Mondays 7 pm - 8:30 pm: April 21, and 28, May 12, and 19, June 2 and 9
In this six-week class, we'll dive deep into the songs of Bob Dylan and sing them in two- and three-part harmony. We'll sing well-known songs and lesser-known gems, learning pre-arranged parts for some, and finding our own for others. Along the way, we'll also sing songs by Bob Dylan's contemporaries in the 1960s, taking a bigger view of the folk and singer-songwriter scene that Dylan was part of.
This class is designed for singers who are comfortable singing in harmony, and can hold their own line against others. We'll work on all the things that make harmony singing fun: finding parts by ear, gaining more independence with a line, and getting beyond the notes to sing with expression, phrasing, and style in order to really make a song click. Dylan's rich lyrics and melodies will take us as far as we can go into great harmony singing!
