Gail Ann Dorsey is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and recording artist with a unique and impressive career in mainstream and independent music spanning more than three decades. Most widely known as one of the music world’s most influential and highly rated bass guitar players, Gail is equally revered for her outstanding vocal talent, contributing her unique and dynamic voice to many projects from the music industry’s top artists as well as her own solo recordings and live performances.

One of the most notable GAD vocal pairings is her show-stopping duet with music legend David Bowie on the Queen/Bowie classic “Under Pressure”. Dorsey occupied the bass guitar/vocalist chair in David Bowie’s touring bands from 1995 to 2004. She also contributed to Bowie’s ‘Earthling’,‘Reality’ and ‘The Next Day’ albums, including the posthumous releases of Bowie studio recordings ‘Toy’ and the ‘Brilliant Adventure (1992-2001) box set. She can also be heard on several recent live concert releases including Bowie live at ‘Glastonbury 2000’.

Aside from her long tenure with David Bowie, Gail has recorded and toured the world with a variety of artists whose music spans an impressively wide range of genres that include folksinger-activist Dar Williams, British crooner Seal, soulful songstress Joan Osborne, pop icon Gwen Stefani, Brit post punk pioneers The Gang Of Four, sophisticated pop stylists Tears For Fears, celebrated indie band The National, a 10-year run as touring bassist with soul-pop-rocker, Lenny Kravitz, and one of Dorsey’s personal favorites, the iconic and legendary Olivia Newton-John to name but a few.

As a solo artist, GAD has released three albums, including ‘The Corporate World’ (Sire/WEA Records UK 1988), ‘Rude Blue’ (Island Records 1993), and the independent released ‘I Used To Be…’ in 2004, two of which are available on Spotify. Gail is currently initiating a return to the stage as a solo artist, as well as writing, recording, and working towards the release of some highly anticipated new music of her own this year.
