The New York Arab Festival is a yearly celebration of Arab arts and culture, programmed around Arab American Heritage Month each April, and extending through May of each year. The festival is founded by curator and artist Adham Hafez, urbanist and writer Adam Kucharski, and senior producer and publicist Cindy Sibilsky. Aiming to offer a platform for contemporary and traditional artistic forms from Arab and Arab American Artists, the New York Arab Festival (NYAF) will present an evening of dance at The Jalopy Theatre on April 7th, starting 7pm. Powered and produced by WIzara LLC, and HaRaKa Platform.
This double bill presents
Malikat Al Dabke, an all-female Dabke troupe, who will perform several collective dance choreographies that range from Palestinian to Iraqi dance heritage and music.
Angie Assal who will both MC the evening as well as present a series of belly dance solos, will share with us a revival of dance heritage from Egypt, Lebanon and the Levant at large, accompanied by virtuoso musician
Ameer Armaly.
