Three dynamic musical divas take you on a journey of decadent traditions, those old and those freshly emerging. Miriam Hacksaw's blend of old time traditional fiddle and Malayali music is known to transfix and transport her listeners. Mira Lazuli's jazz-influenced synth dance pop inspires great whimsy and wonder. Melanie Beth Curran's Irish American Folk originals and traditionals gobble up the heart chakra and bend the annals of time and space. The three borrow inspiration from New Orleans' street sociality and come to the stage with no shortage of debauch, punk, and hardcore energy under their belts.
New-Orleans-based Miriam Hacksaw is touring her debut EP "The Lupine" and is backed by Mira on vocals. Originally of Quebecois and Algerian origins, Mira Lazuli is also based in New Orleans and backed by Miriam on percussion. Melanie Beth Curran, a New York City songstress based in Rockaway Beach, plays alone but is surely backed by her ancestors and the Irish Goddess Brigid. Curran will also be sharing writing from her zines on Irish America.
The evening is sure to be ruckus and rowdy, inspiring and enlivening, elevating and weighty with centuries of reverberating merriment. Come for the music, stay for the revolution.
