Multi-instrumentalist/singer/writer/arranger/performer Marianne Osiel has been a professional musician for over four decades. Originally from Santa Barbara, California, she  was a sought-after “sideman” in Nashville for 15 years, as a recording session player, while playing oboe in the Nashville Symphony.  She has performed and/or recorded with artists as John Hall, Nanci Griffith, Jennifer Maidman, Rachel Sage, to name a few.  Her instruments include oboe, English horn, flute, recorder, piano, guitar, and voice.

Marianne has made her living both in the classical and pop world, sometimes in symphony orchestras, others as a “sideman” for other artists, as well as Center stage doing her own music.  As a string quartet arranger, Marianne has written and recorded for artists such as David Olney, Susan Piper, Bob Hillman, and her own CD’s.

Her original recordings include Strange Girl and Full of Wholes (both singer/songwriter CD’s), a “live”duo recording from the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville,  and “How The Light Gets In”, an all-improvised instrumental CD featuring duets with four uniquely different New York keyboardists, with Marianne on oboe and English horn.  Her latest love is in the world of improvisation, having worked with Karl Berger’s Improvisors Orchestra as well as other “soundpainters” in the New York area.

Marianne teaches music privately to all ages in and around the Ulster County region.  To know more about and/or purchase Marianne’s music, please email her at [email protected] as well as on Facebook.
