Join Kingston Film Foundation (a local nonprofit film organization) at Unicorn Bar on January 19 at 7:00 PM for Lilly and Lana Wachowski’s stylish neo-noir, Bound (1996). Bridging genres—the noir and the gangster film—Bound twists those genres toward queer ends, delivering a lesbian heist film that plays on conventions of femininity.
As scholar and critic McKenzie Wark writes in her essay, “Be Gay, Do Crime,” “In Bound, we find the beginnings of a journey into a certain trans sensibility that runs through all the Wachowskis’ work.”
