EMMA FRANK
Born and raised outside of Boston, Emma Frank spent almost ten years in Montreal, getting a literature degree at McGill University, waiting tables and working on songwriting before moving to Brooklyn five years ago. Frank's third album, Ocean Av, which Popmatters described as "a minor masterpiece" (Will Layman), combined modern jazz sensibilities and folk songwriting, and featured pianist Aaron Parks, drummer Jim Black, bassist Rick Rosato and producer/guitarist Franky Rousseau. Her fourth and newest album, "Come Back" (Justin Time Records and Nettwerk Music Group), is an avant folk exploration featuring pianist Aaron Parks and produced by Franky Rousseau.
After a decade in Montreal, singer and songwriter Emma Frank has settled in Brooklyn. Her last two albums featured intricately arranged jazz-adjacent folk songs, with Aaron Parks on piano. She'll be heading into the studio again in March, this time with a collection of music that draws on her Americana, folk and country influences. The band features
Franky Rousseau, Mike Robinson, Grey Mcmurray, Sam Weber, and
Pedro Barquinha.
