Composer-violinist
Dana Lyn inhabits a musical world somewhere in the Venn diagram of 70’s art rock, classical, traditional Irish and improvised music. She has written music for Brooklyn Rider, Palaver Strings, A Far Cry and the National Orchestra of Washington and performs regularly with Taylor Mac, Stew, Hank Roberst, actor Vincent D'Onofrio and guitarist Kyle Sanna.
Mother Octopus plays music inspired by visual artist Jay DeFeo's monumental painting "The Rose." Dana will talk about her obsession with this painting to anyone who is willing to listen to her, particularly the audience that shows up at Barbes.
Featuring: Dana Lyn - violin; Mike McGinnis - clarinet; Sara Schoenbeck - bassoon, Gary Wang - bass; Patrician Brennan (vibes) and Noel Brennan (drums)
