B. Anantha Raman is a violinist, belonging to the family of musicians, representing the third generation of the V. K. V. Parampara (tradition). He began his initial training in Carnatic Music when he was four years old under the watchful supervision of his grandfather Late Sri V. K. Venkata Ramanujam Iyengar (a renowned Carnatic violinist and a Reader of violin at the Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University in the eighties). He was further trained in Hindustani Music under the able guidance of his father, Prof. V. Balaji (Ex-Dean and Head of the instrumental department, Faculty of Performing Arts, Banaras Hindu University and Established artists in ICCR empanelment). The young artist has actually mastered the art of violin playing in both the North Indian (Hindustanni) as well as the South Indian (Carnatic) style of music. Further to enhance the style of ‘GAYAKI ANG’ in instrumental form of music he began his learning under the tutelage of Prof. Vanamala Parvatkar (professor of Vocal, Banaras Hindu University).
Anantha Raman is a graded artist of the national radio of India. He finished his Masters in North Indian Classical Music from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh and master's in visual communication from Madras University. He was a band member of Oxygen -World Fusion Music and has been a part of many productions work in movies and dance. He has played solo and duo concerts and accompanied several musicians of repute in India and abroad, such as Harivallabh Sangeet Samaroh, Jalandhar; Swar Sandhya, Chandigarh; Bhatkhande Sangeet Samaroh, Lucknow; Indian Dance Festival, Mamallapuram, Sri Lanka; President House, Sri Lanka; University of Visual & Performing Arts , Colombo, Sri Lanka; Madhuradhwani Music Season Concert Series at Arkay Convention Centre, Chennai; Digboi organised by Madhuvanthi, Assam; Nada Brahma Organised by Assam Jatiya Bidyalay Educ; ational & Social – Economic Trust –Assam Prasar Bharati Akashvani (In Front of Invited Audience), Pune ➢ Prasar Bharati Akashvani- Bal Kalakar(Before Invited Audience), New Delhi ➢ CEERI- Pilani, Rajasthan ➢ Ullas Utsav, SangeetNatak Academy, Lucknow ➢ Jagannath Jayanti, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi ➢ Sharda Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai ➢ Shri Shri Durgaji Varshik Sangeet Shringaar Mahotsav, Varanasi ➢ Purva acharya Sangeet Sammelan BHU, Varanasi ➢ on the 75th birthday of Dr. (Smt.) Among them are: Dr. Vyjayanthimala Bali, Smt.Vani Jayaram, Padma Bhushan Sri T.V.Gopalakrishnan, Smt. Shobhana Chandrakumar Pillai, Srikala Bharat and so on.
