SACRED STEEL featuring
CALVIN COOKE and
KASHIAH HUNTER Sacred steel developed in Black churches in the Southeastern United States and has since become a worldwide sensation due to players like Robert Randolph and the Campbell Brothers. Sacred steel players have a unique ability to make their instruments “sing,” and their entire performance is geared towards raising a spirit of joy and community in the audience.
Calvin Cooke is an elder statesman of the instrument, having performed for years on nationally-known touring stages with the Slide Brothers and Darick Campbell, as well as performances at conventions, churches, and Folk Alliance.
Kashiah Hunter is one of Atlanta's best-known sacred steel players and has performed at the Jalopy Folk Festival, Folk Alliance, and the Steel Guitar Unconvention, as well as churches and conventions throughout the Southeast.
