Meet the Veda Farms Team:
Smrita Choubey is the Founder & CEO of Veda Farms, a vertically integrated wellness company rooted in Ayurveda. Smrita started her career in healthcare investment banking, and realized that the American healthcare system had many systemic challenges preventing our society from being happy and healthy. She decided to use the knowledge she gained studying economics at the University of Chicago and getting her MBA at Columbia Business School, along with the healthcare and corporate strategy skills she gained from working at J.P. Morgan and American Express, to start an alternative healthcare company rooted in Ayurveda. She started Veda Farms to grow, research and formulate plant-based alternatives to mass-marketed pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Bhaswati Bhattacharya is the Chief Science Officer of Veda Farms, and is one of the foremost minds in the Ayurveda industry in the US. Dr. Bhaswati is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College, has degrees from Harvard, Columbia and UPenn, and is the world's only Fulbright Scholar to get a PhD in Ayurveda from Banaras Hindu University. With deep experience in the clinical study of Ayurvedic medicine, Dr. Bhaswati will be leading Veda Farms' efforts to grow, formulate and research powerful medicinal botanicals and ground authentic Ayurvedic knowledge in modern clinical science.
Camila Celin is the Chief Culture Officer of Veda Farms, as well as the founder of RASA, a community of world-class musicians. Camila is a 2-time Grammy-nominated artist focused on classical sarod and guitar, and is passionate about bringing the power of Vedic sound healing to NYC and beyond. Camila's sound alchemy will form the basis of advanced research on the effects of ancient raga music on agricultural crop growth.
Dan De Lion is an herbalist, forager, musician and teacher dedicated to working with nature to further the healing of the rift between humans and the Earth. Through his Return to Nature platform, Dan provides classes, lectures and seminars on wild food foraging, mushroom identification and herbal medicine making, as well as survival skills with a focus on ethical interaction and caretaking principles of our local landscape. He also incorporates the philosophies of yoga, meditation and mysticism into his curriculum, and brings a deep-rooted indigenous perspective on how to use intuition to communicate with plants in a systematic and grounded way.
What to Wear: We will spend the day hiking in nature, so please wear closed toed shoes and dress according to the weather. We will be immersing ourselves in the elements rain or shine, so in case of rain please wear raingear and pack a second set of warm clothes to change into should we get wet.
